New Server Idea.

So here’s my idea. It’s sort of a rough draft .

Server is still Arma 3 , Exile
Map: maybe something obscure. Maybe something like Isla Douala or Lingor Something with a good balance of water and land. Something not too big. It could change.

Map could still have roaming AI.

The difference is in the game play.

Instead of your basic groups, bases, looting etc. The server is divided from the start into 2 teams. Say the PedoBears and the Dickbutts. (Two of the existing flags). New players apply to be added to a team and teams are kept as even as possible. The map has 2 built in bases (one for each team) situated on opposite sides of the map. Team members would have access to their base, and permission to place a safe, etc. Sniping at the team bases is allowed, but base raids (at team bases) are not.

Gaining loot and respect is done in the usual way, however the vendors do not offer higher end items (launchers, thermal, armed vehicles, etc). Those items can only be found at missions and the rarity could be based on the difficulty etc).

Really rewarding loot and gear would come by participating in “events”. This could be anything really. JellyBeans, Tonga and I played on a server like this a while back. On that server, on high pop nights the admin/mods would give clues about his location and the first team to defeat him would get the prize. (Sometimes a crate with misc cool gear, sometimes something like an Apache Helicopter etc) Another event was something akin to capture the flag. Each team had a flag that was placed and could be stolen, the team to sell the stolen flag first won.

Every 2-3 months they would wipe server and start over with new teams. Etc.

I second this to some extent. For the vehicles and high end loot, absolutely agree. Make them mission based rather than outright obtained at a trader. This would add competitive interest to missions for a tactical advantage and make mission "camping" more of a strategic scenario rather than to be a dick and steal the shit.

However teams I have a difference of opinion; My suggestion is a three "team" scenario. You have those two main teams that were mentioned but a third, independent/bandit group who have their own bases throughout the map. They'll have the advantage of small bases throughout but a disadvantage of lack of team mates.

All these ideas are good, there are servers that play like this. Straight exile is already setup to divide into three teams... I always played on as independent. They were the only faction that could attack anyone. Everyone would start out with a set rig gun ammo outfits. or classifications like sniper, recon, gunner, assault. A map with less trees would give you more disadvantages that would put you into more fire fights then hiding around. Take away all thermals. Even on the vehicles, add in the player radar or scanner and everyone join teamspeak so we can use task force radio... its not just that you can hear better, its also a way to designate frequencies and assign groups with special orders. Maybe assign a commander to each team. The admins can reserve the global channel to speak to everyone at once. A map with water would get us into beach landings, aircraft carrier operations, sea battles... A map thats mostly water with a few small islands like wake island map.

I think having an independent group is a valid point, but I would caution that in order for the premise of this to work, the majority of the players should be on the 2 teams. I get it that sometimes people feel uncomfortable fighting against their friends. It's sometimes hard not to take it personally. The down side of this, is then it mostly becomes a pvp server without much competition. Too many independents and it's really no different than the current Cherno server.

I dunno, it could be that without a significant pop increase, the idea won't work anyway.

SOunds fun and I like the idea....but man the amount of manual work involved would be outrageous. New shop files and mission edits would def need done. Not 100 percent sure if I even can achieve that with some of the missions. There would def need to be new scripts or whatever implemented (if some are shared with these features) many taken out, and new admins added that are ok with what it takes to get something like this done. A server like that would need "babysitting" more than usual. I cannot do this especially during my work/growing season. I am game for a unique map (as long as traders and spawn points are set-up) with some fresh rules or features. It's worth the conversation as always!

Also, I was looking at the map Esseker and already have files ready for that map with spawnzones and traders placed. It may be a fitting map to test with any new ideas...
